This is the day you learn how software actually gets built and shipped - with Claude Code and Codex doing the typing.
The Oxford Agentic Coding Bootcamp is a practical, hands-on day for people who understand the concepts but haven't yet built and shipped something of their own. It doesn't assume you can code - think of it as sitting next to a senior engineer who does the typing, not a course that turns you into a junior one.
By five o'clock you'll have shipped two things you own outright.
What we'll cover
-
Context before code - writing the brief the agent reads first, and asking for a plan before it builds
-
Your workbench - the IDE, the terminal and repositories, and why they're less scary than they look
-
Version control as your undo button - commits, branches and pull requests
-
Shipping - deploying to the web, preview links, and going live many times a day
-
Giving it a memory - a real database, API keys, and what never goes in the repo
-
Trust but verify - tests, fact-checking what the AI wrote, and a second model reviewing the code
-
Testing on a real person - swapping prototypes and capturing feedback
How the day runs
Every session is show, then do with facilitators roaming the room.
You'll leave with
-
A personal website live on the internet, in your own GitHub repo
-
A working product prototype that saves real data, has basic tests and sits on your site as your first portfolio piece
-
A take-home kit of the prompts and commands we used, and how to keep costs under control
Your hosts
Drummond Gilbert, who tutors in AI in Management at Saïd Business School and runs Oxford's Practical AI meetup, together with Jonathan Waddingham (CPO, ex-JustGiving) and Mike Bailey (Coppice Labs).
