Every year, promising climate startups wind down. What disappears with them: years of experiments, materials data, process notes, dead ends worth knowing about, and hard-won tacit knowledge. The next team starts from zero.

The Decelerator, a new program from The Engine, works with founders of climate ventures that are winding down or pivoting significantly to turn what they learned and built into a public, searchable repository other founders and researchers can build on. Founders decide what's shared.

Capital already invested in hard science shouldn't create value only when a company succeeds. A more efficient climate ecosystem saves time, and time is the constraint that matters most.
