Seattle's local node of NASA's International Space Apps Challenge: a 48-hour hackathon where teams pick a real NASA challenge, grab open datasets and ship something, software or hardware, on the top floor of the F5 Tower with sweeping views of Elliott Bay. Space Northwest runs the Seattle regional, and the global winners get flown to Kennedy Space Center for a launch tour. The crowd is unusually technical for a hackathon this size: aerospace engineers from Blue Origin and the PNW space cluster, UW grads, foundation-model folks, and founders prototyping over the weekend. Worth the Friday-to-Sunday if you want to build something hard with people who actually know the orbital mechanics.
