Building Today for Tomorrow’s Impact on Healthcare

When Clinicians Build: Showcase and Open Floor

Healthcare changes when the people working in it decide to fix what they run into every day, and build solutions that work far beyond their own ward.

This edition of the Digital Health Cocktail Hour puts those people on stage. Physician-led and researcher-led teams from the BIH Digital Health Accelerator at Charité will show what they’re building and, just as importantly, what is still standing in their way. Each team ends with the questions they’re wrestling with. Then it’s over to the room: founders, investors, clinicians and operators, bringing their own experience to the conversation.

Program

Project showcase:

Translational projects from the BIH Digital Health Accelerator at Charité, led by treating physicians and researchers, have five minutes each to present their work. Every team closes with the questions they most want to discuss – whether their data can answer the clinical question, for instance, or what it takes to move from a research tool to a product.

Projects include:

→ CALA-XR: The limb is gone, but the pain is real. Therapy for phantom limb pain, built for one patient at a time, in extended reality.

→ OnKIboard: A cancer diagnosis can’t wait. Neither can the treatment decision. An AI agent system that aims to give tumour boards fast, valid and traceable treatment decisions.

→ CellTracer: Bringing a cell therapy to patients takes more than science. A regulatory-intelligence platform for cell therapy that helps teams identify comparable trials and regulatory precedents.

→ CoRehApp: Intensive care ends at discharge. The road back from its after-effects doesn’t. A personal avatar companion that supports recovery and connects patients with the care they need.

→ FlowPilot: Every blood cancer case starts as a raw file and ends as a report. Faster, more consistent interpretation, informed by similar past cases, with clinicians keeping the final call.

Founders’ panel: The realities of building in healthcare

Building a healthcare company rarely follows a straight line. Our panel brings together founders to talk candidly about the choices, setbacks and turning points that shaped their journeys – from recognising a problem worth solving to navigating the healthcare system, finding a route to market and building a sustainable business.

What worked, what didn’t, and what would they do differently now? Their experiences offer a chance to learn from those who have been through it, while the questions raised by the presenting teams may well find their way into the conversation, too.

Open floor:

The conversation continues over drinks. Each team’s questions are at their table, so you can walk up, challenge their thinking, offer an introduction, or join the team. Come with an opinion.

⚠️ Doors close at 18:30 sharp! Arrive before then.
