One day. One app. Real people should want to use it by 5pm.

Most AI demos impress developers. Consumer AI has to impress everyone else: your friends, your parents, the person next to you on the Tube. This is a one-day hackathon for building AI products that ordinary people would actually open twice.

Run with Stefan Ionescu of Yap.

What to build

Anything consumer: social and messaging, creativity, voice, companions, learning, shopping, games, travel, dating, everyday life. Judged on how much a real person would want it, not how clever the stack is.

The day

  • 10:00am: doors, breakfast and team forming

  • 10:30am: kick-off, briefs and the rules

  • 11:00am: hacking (lunch at 1pm)

  • 4:30pm: submissions close

  • 5:00pm: live demos

  • 6:00pm: judging, winners and drinks until 7pm

The rules

  • Start from scratch on the day. Teams of up to four, or hack solo.

  • Bring a laptop and charger. Food and drinks are on us.

  • Prizes to be announced.

Who it's for

Developers, designers, product people and founders who like shipping fast. Beginners welcome if you can build something by the end of the day.

Hosted by Encode Club at Encode Hub, London's AI centre in Shoreditch (41 Pitfield Street, London N1 6DA). Free to attend. Spaces are limited and every registration is reviewed by the team, so you'll hear from us once you're approved.
