Claude Code Workshop #1, Learn How Other People Actually Use It
Friday 18 September · Dynatrace Lab Barcelona, Torre Glòries Av. Diagonal, 211, Planta 14, Sant Martí, 08018 Barcelona
Most of us learned Claude Code alone. You built your own CLAUDE.md, your own commands, your own habits, and you've probably never seen anyone else's.
This evening is about fixing that.
We'll spend it building small features into Excalidraw, the open-source whiteboard. But the code is the excuse. The real point is that you'll be working side by side with other people, on their machines and inside their setups, and them inside yours. That's where the "wait, how did you do that?" moments come from, and those are what you'll take home.
What to expect
-
You'll work with other attendees, not alone. Pairs, swapping who's at the keyboard.
-
Before writing any code, you'll walk each other through how you use Claude Code: your rules, your commands, whatever you've built.
-
Then you build something small and real together, and share what you found.
-
Nothing needs to be finished. Half-working is the normal outcome and completely fine.
Roughly how the evening goes
17:45 Doors open. Sign in at reception, get taken up to the room, and a hand for anyone whose setup is misbehaving
18:15 Workshop kickoff, how the evening works
20:30 Drinks and networking until 21:00
Who it's for
Anyone who has used Claude Code, from "once, last month" to "all day, every day". We'll pair people deliberately so nobody is stranded next to someone way ahead of them. Bring a laptop.
Tokens are on Anthropic
Every attendee gets Anthropic API credits for the session, so you're not burning your own quota. You'll receive instructions on how to claim them a few days before the event.
In the meantime, please try to register with the same email you use for your Anthropic account.
Before you come
This is hands-on, so there's setup to do at home beforehand, registering means committing to it.
👉 Read the instructions before you register: github.com/benja83/claude-code-workshop-prework
And, it goes without saying, but let's say it, bring your laptop. And its charger.
Getting in, you'll need your ID
🪪 Bring your DNI, NIE or passport. Building security checks every visitor, and without ID you can't come up.
⏰ Doors open at 17:45, please come 15–20 minutes before 18:00 and wait in reception, we'll come down and take you up to floor 14 in groups. No badges, and you can't go up alone.
Nearest metro is Glòries (L1). More about the space: inspirespot.net/barcelona
Thank you
A big thank you to Dynatrace Lab Barcelona for offering us a space to run the workshop at Torre Glòries. Community events like this only happen when someone opens their doors, and they did.
And thank you for coming and, more importantly, for being willing to show someone else how you work. That's the whole event. See you on the 14th floor.
Hosted by Ben Tarenne, Claude Community Ambassador for Barcelona.
