Microsoft Foundry - MCP Servers Across Industries
Below is the agenda for June 11th, 2026:
Introducing MCP Servers with Use Cases across Industries
- Zachary Zurlo will take us through a discussion on different common AI use cases by industry. He will introduce MCP servers and how they can be leveraged for these AI use cases, as well as talk about best practices and common pitfalls.
- Speaker: Zachary Zurlo is a Senior Solution Engineer at Microsoft. In his role as a Cloud Solution Architect, he works closely with customers to understand their business goals, identify opportunities for digital transformation, and design scalable and secure cloud-based solutions.
Custom MCP Servers, Secured: Entra ID, OBO, and Authorization-Gated Tools
- Building a custom MCP server is straightforward — securing it against real enterprise data is where things get interesting. Using a fictional law firm as the demo backdrop, this talk covers two patterns: 1) Elicitation — a tool that doesn't have what it needs asks the MCP client to gather input from the user. We'll hit the same server from two different MCP clients and see how each renders that contract differently. 2) On-Behalf-Of authorization — a tool that returns only what the signed-in user is allowed to see, then calls a downstream API using an OBO-exchanged token so identity flows all the way through. No service accounts, no shortcuts. Stack: .NET, Blazor, C# MCP SDK, Entra ID OBO flow, and the app registrations that hold it together. If you're exposing proprietary data to an AI agent and don't want to hand it the keys to the kingdom, this one's for you.
- Speaker: Dmitri Larionov, AI-focused architect at Origin Digital. 13 years building secure enterprise systems; specializes in Azure AI, identity, and distributed systems.
